The production company said the movie will focus on when Davis temporarily retired from making music and then re-emerged in 1979. The script is written by Cheadle and Steven Baigelman.

  1. Why would they make a movie about a great musician and icon but focus on a period of his life when he was not making music? Beats me. My big fear is that they’ll dwell on this unhappy period when the music became shrill and agitated due to personal problems. We can see that every day on the news. The announcement about using a ‘cubist’ style to the movie also made me nervious as it seems to imply a jagged recount of a troubled life. Usually resorted to when the writers and produceres realize they don’t have a full story. By the way, what’s Cheadle gonna do about the famous Miles raspy voice? The movie BIRD should have alerted us to the unrewarding aspects of telling a negative tale about a mostly positive person. Please don’t let that happen to Miles too fellahs.
