Miles Davis Album Cover Gets Typographic Upgrade

Talented, Miami-based graphic designer Pedro Sarmiento was kind enough to let me post some photos of his recent class project; a redesign of the CD cover for the Miles Davis album Blue Haze.

Writes Sarmiento:

We were not allowed to use any images, only typograpy. I decided to use the word haze as the idea behind the front cover. Up close they are just a repeating pattern but once you start pulling back they reveal much more, kind of like a haze.

Blue Haze is an album recorded in 1953 and 1954 for Prestige Records. Here’s the original album cover:
